Frequently Asked Questions

What sizes does the HILASON 1200D winter turnout blanket come in?

Available in 13 sizes: 66 In, 68 In, 69 In, 70 In, 72 In, 74 In, 75 In, 76 In, 78 In, 80 In, 81 In, 82 In, and 84 In. The expandable gusset near the front legs provides tailored fit. For horses between standard sizes, select the next smaller size: a 76-inch horse should order size 75, and a 70-inch horse should choose size 69.

How do I measure my horse for a winter turnout blanket?

Measure from the center of your horse's chest along the shoulder and side to the point of the hindquarters (where the blanket will end). Round to the nearest whole inch. Most blankets come in even sizes, so if your measurement falls between sizes, choose the size that matches exactly or round down by one inch. The expandable gusset section accommodates slight fit adjustments.

Is this blanket truly waterproof?

Yes. The 1200D polyester outer shell features waterproof, breathable rip-stop fabric technology designed to shed rain, snow, and sleet while allowing moisture vapor to escape. The blanket has been lab-tested to withstand extreme air and water pressure, making it reliable for wet pastures and winter storms.

What is the fill weight and why does it matter for winter turnout?

This blanket contains 400-gram poly fill insulation, which provides warmth for deep winter and first-freeze conditions without the bulk or heat retention issues of heavier fills. This weight balances insulation with breathability and movement comfort during active turnout grazing and rolling.

Can I attach a hood or neck cover to this blanket?

Yes. The HILASON 1200D has dee rings positioned on both sides of the blanket, allowing you to attach matching hoods or neck covers sold separately. These add extra protection for the neck, chest, and vulnerable areas during extreme cold or wet conditions.

How do I care for a 1200D polyester turnout blanket?

Rinse off mud and debris after turnout, then machine wash in cool water on gentle cycle with mild detergent. Air dry completely before storage to prevent mold. Avoid high heat and fabric softeners, which can damage the waterproof finish. Inspect seams and leg straps regularly for wear and repair if needed.
