Frequently Asked Questions
What is a flag pole saddle holder used for?
A flag pole saddle holder mounts on the saddle and holds a flag pole upright while you ride. It is used for color guard rides, Memorial Day processions, county fair parades, rodeo grand entries and drill team performances. The leather sleeve cradles the pole while adjustable straps anchor the carrier to the saddle so it stays steady at the walk, trot or lope.
Is this horse flag carrier made of genuine leather?
This flag carrier is made from full grain leather and finished with a hand-tooled floral pattern carved into the face of the sleeve. Full grain leather is the strongest part of the hide, so the holder resists stretching and keeps its shape through repeated parade seasons. Wipe it clean with a dry cloth and condition it lightly once or twice a year.
Will this saddle flag mount fit my western saddle?
The carrier is built as a universal fit and attaches with adjustable straps, so it mounts on most western saddles. Tighten the straps until the holder stops moving under hand pressure, then check that the flag pole seats fully in the sleeve before you ride. Strap length and compatible pole diameter vary by style - check the product details for exact specifications.
Does the flag pole come with the saddle holder?
This listing covers the full grain leather saddle holder and its adjustable straps. Flag poles and flags are normally sold separately, so confirm what is included if you need the pole as well. Check the product details for exact specifications on this style before ordering for parade season.
How do I care for the hand-tooled leather flag carrier?
Keep the tooled leather dry and wipe off dust, sweat and trail grit with a soft dry cloth after each ride. Store the holder out of direct sun so the tooling does not fade. Apply a light coat of leather conditioner once or twice a season, and avoid soaking the leather or drying it near a heater, which can stiffen the sleeve.
