Frequently Asked Questions

What is an equestrian safety vest and why do I need one?

An equestrian safety vest protects riders from impact injuries during falls. The HILASON protective vest features D40 shock-absorbing foam compartments that absorb force and reduce injury risk. It is essential gear for barrel racing, rodeo, trail riding, and any activity where falls are a possibility.

How do I measure for the correct equestrian safety vest size?

Measure around the widest point of your chest just below the armpits for the best fit. The HILASON safety vest should fit snugly but not tight. Also measure just above your hips for waist size. The vest comes in multiple sizes to ensure a proper, protective fit for different body types.

Is the HILASON safety vest compatible with helmets and other protective gear?

Yes. The HILASON equestrian protective vest is specifically designed to work with helmets, face masks, and other protective gear commonly worn during barrel racing, rodeo events, and competitive riding. Many riders wear this vest with helmets for maximum protection.

What is D40 foam and how does it protect against impact?

D40 is a shock-absorbing foam material engineered to absorb and distribute impact energy during falls. The HILASON safety vest uses strategically compartmentalized D40 padding throughout the vest, with enhanced protection in the tailbone area, to reduce injury from direct impacts while keeping the vest lightweight and flexible for rider movement.

Can I wear the HILASON safety vest for trail riding or only for barrel racing?

The HILASON equestrian protective vest is suitable for trail riding, barrel racing, rodeo events, and any western riding discipline where fall protection is needed. The contoured design and shock-absorbing padding make it versatile enough for both competitive and recreational riding.

How do I adjust the HILASON safety vest for fit?

The HILASON protective vest features laced side adjustment and front hook-and-loop fasteners. Adjust the side laces to fit snugly around your torso, then secure the front fasteners for a customized fit. The vest should be snug at the chest and waist but allow full range of motion for riding.
