This winter turnout blanket combines waterproof durability with thoughtful design for horses facing cold, wet conditions. The 1200D polyester outer shell with breathable rip-stop fabric sheds rain and snow while allowing moisture to escape, preventing sweat buildup. Why It Works

  • Waterproof rip-stop construction: 1200D polyester with taped seams and double-stitched reinforcement keeps your horse dry through rain, sleet, and snow without the premium markup.
  • Insulated warmth: 300-gram poly fill and fleece withers protection maintain body heat on cold nights while the breathable taffeta lining prevents moisture trap.
  • Secure turnout fit: Double-buckle front closure, removable elastic leg straps, shoulder gussets, and dees on both sides allow easy hood or neck cover attachment for layered cold weather use.
  • Built for daily barn use: Double-stitched, taped seams and reinforced tail flaps deliver durability through a full winter season of turnout.

Best For

  • Winter turnout in cold, wet climates where waterproof protection is essential.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this turnout blanket truly waterproof?

Yes. The 1200D polyester outer shell is waterproof with breathable rip-stop fabric that sheds rain and snow while allowing internal moisture to escape, preventing sweat trap. Taped and double-stitched seams stop water penetration even in harsh weather.

How do I measure my horse for the correct blanket size?

Measure your horse from the point of the shoulder to the point of the buttock along the side. That measurement in inches is your blanket size. If your horse measures 76 inches, select size 75 inches. If 70 inches, choose size 69 inches. The blanket includes an expandable section near the front legs for a tailored fit.

What is the difference between a turnout blanket and a fly sheet?

Turnout blankets are designed for winter cold weather protection with heavy insulation (like this 300-gram fill model), while fly sheets are lightweight summer sheets that protect from insects and UV rays. They serve completely different purposes and are not interchangeable. This blanket is a turnout blanket for winter use.

Can I attach a neck cover or hood to this blanket?

Yes. The blanket features dees on both sides and removable elastic leg straps that allow easy attachment of hoods or neck covers, letting you layer protection as temperatures drop during winter turnout.

Is this blanket made by HILASON?

Yes. HILASON manufactures this blanket using quality materials - 1200D waterproof polyester with Persian twisted woven taffeta lining, 300-gram poly fill, and double-stitched, taped seams. Each is built for daily turnout use through a full winter season.
