Frequently Asked Questions

How do I measure my horse for the correct fly mask size?

Measure your horse's face from the center of the forehead to the tip of the muzzle. Cashel Quiet Ride comes in five sizes: Weanling/Small Pony (narrow face), Arab/Small Horse, Horse (standard), Warmblood, and Draft. Most adult riding horses wear Horse size. If your horse is between sizes, consult the Cashel sizing chart or contact customer service.

Can I ride my horse in this fly mask, or is it only for turnout?

Yes, the Cashel Quiet Ride is designed for active trail riding. It fastens securely over the bridle without affecting rein control, bit contact, or vision. It's equally suitable for pasture turnout, making it versatile for both riding and ground work.

What is the difference between a fly mask and a fly sheet?

A fly mask is a lightweight, breathable nylon mesh designed for head and face insect protection during riding and turnout. A fly sheet is a full-body blanket for extended stall or pasture management. Fly masks allow riding; fly sheets are for rest periods. They solve different problems and are not interchangeable.

Will this fly mask stay on during active riding?

Yes. The quick-fastening design and secure bridle attachment keep the mask in place during trotting, cantering, and trail work. The ear coverage and snug fit prevent shifting or slipping, even with head movement and rein contact.

Does the mesh restrict my horse's vision or airflow?

No. The soft breathable nylon mesh is open-weave and transparent, allowing clear forward and side vision while blocking insects. The design promotes airflow to keep horses cool during summer trail riding and warm-weather pasture turnout.

Is the Cashel Quiet Ride fly mask machine washable?

Hand washing with mild soap and water is recommended to preserve the mesh integrity and fastening hardware. Avoid harsh detergents and machine drying. Air dry completely before storage or next use to prevent mildew in the breathable mesh.
