Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a flex tree saddle and a traditional western saddle?

A flex tree saddle has no rigid wooden or synthetic tree - the frame flexes and moves with your horse. This allows 4-way movement that reduces pressure on shoulders and withers, lets horses engage their back muscles more naturally, and adapts to different horse shapes. Traditional saddles have fixed rigid bars that restrict shoulder movement. Flex tree saddles are lighter and more comfortable for horses that are hard to fit.

Can this treeless saddle be used for trail riding?

Yes. This HILASON flex tree saddle is ideal for trail riding, western pleasure, and endurance riding. The adaptive design distributes weight evenly, reduces pressure points, and allows your horse to move naturally over varied terrain. Many trail riders prefer treeless saddles because they adapt to different horse shapes and allow closer connection with their horse.

Is this saddle handmade?

Yes. Each HILASON flex tree saddle is handcrafted one at a time by skilled leatherworkers using full grain harness leather. The hand-tooled design with floral carving and rich saddle tan finish reflects the individual craftsmanship of each piece.

What horse sizes and shapes does this saddle fit?

This saddle fits horses with 6 to 8-inch gullet width. Because it has no rigid tree, it adapts to horses with high withers, wide shoulders, and non-standard conformation that traditional saddles may not fit. The flexible design molds to your horse's unique back shape, making it ideal for hard-to-fit horses including gaited horses and horses with muscular or unusual frames.

What is included with this saddle?

The saddle comes complete with a matching front cinch strap. Anti-slip stirrups are attached. No additional tack is included - you will need to provide reins, bridle, and back cinch separately for complete setup.

How much does this saddle weigh and is it lighter than other saddles?

This HILASON flex tree saddle weighs approximately 21 lbs. Because it has no heavy wooden or synthetic tree, it is significantly lighter than traditional western saddles, which typically weigh 28-35 lbs. The lighter weight makes it easier to carry, mount, and handle while still providing the durability and support you need for trail and ranch work.
