Frequently Asked Questions

What size bridles does this 5/8 inch curb chain fit?

The 5/8 inch width is the standard size for most western horse bridles and fits the majority of curb bit attachments. This is the most common western curb chain size. If your bridle uses larger dee rings or specially sized hardware, verify compatibility before ordering.

What is the difference between double row and single row curb chains?

A double row curb chain has two parallel lines of interlocked links instead of one, distributing pressure more evenly across the horse's jaw and providing finer control with lighter cues. Double row chains are preferred by reining competitors and riders seeking more subtle communication with their horse.

How do I attach this chain to my western bridle?

The leather loop ends slide over the curb hooks or dee rings on both sides of your existing western bridle. The reinforced stitching prevents slipping. Installation takes seconds and requires no tools or modifications to your current tack.

What disciplines use western curb chains like this Hilason model?

Western curb chains are used across multiple disciplines including reining, western pleasure, ranch work, trail riding, and barrel racing. The double row design is especially valued by reining competitors and western pleasure riders seeking refined communication with their horse.

Is this Hilason curb chain suitable for barrel racing?

Yes, this Hilason curb chain is versatile for barrel racing training and competition. The double row design gives riders responsive control through tight turns and rate adjustments. Many barrel racers use curb chains like this as part of their bridle setup.

Is this western curb chain handmade?
