Frequently Asked Questions
What is a treeless western saddle and how is it different from a traditional saddle?
A treeless saddle has no rigid wooden or synthetic tree structure, allowing it to flex and adapt to your horse's unique back shape. This 4-way movement reduces pressure points, accommodates difficult conformation like high withers, and allows horses to engage their back muscles more freely. Traditional saddles have a fixed tree that restricts movement.
Is this Hilason treeless saddle good for trail riding?
Yes. The flexible 4-way design is ideal for trail riding and endurance work. The absence of a rigid tree minimizes restrictions on shoulder movement, promotes natural gait, and reduces fatigue on longer rides. The black rough out seat provides excellent grip and security on the trail.
What horses is this treeless saddle best for?
This saddle works well for horses with high withers, wide shoulders, unusual conformation, or those hard to fit with traditional saddles. The flexible design adapts to any back shape. It fits 6 to 8-inch gullet horses and accommodates a wide range of sizes and shapes.

Yes. Each Hilason treeless saddle is hand-crafted one at a time by skilled craftsmen using full grain harness leather. The basketweave pattern is hand-tooled and finished in an oiled color, ensuring durability and quality without premium markup.
