Frequently Asked Questions

What is a treeless western saddle and how does it differ from a traditional tree saddle?

A treeless saddle eliminates the rigid wooden or synthetic tree structure found in traditional saddles. The HILASON treeless western saddle features 4-way flex movement, allowing it to conform to your horse's back shape and flex with their movement. This reduces pressure points, allows shoulders and back muscles to engage naturally, and accommodates horses with high withers, wide shoulders, or unusual conformation that traditional tree saddles cannot fit.

Is this HILASON saddle good for trail riding?

Yes, the HILASON treeless western saddle is excellent for trail riding. The 4-way flex movement reduces fatigue on your horse during long rides by distributing weight evenly and allowing natural movement. The treeless design weighs only 21 pounds compared to traditional tree saddles, and the deep 5-inch cantle and anti-slip stirrups provide stability and security on varied terrain.

What is the saddle made from and how durable is it?

The saddle is handcrafted from top-quality full grain harness leather with a hand-tooled antique mahogany finish and silver conchos. Each saddle is made one at a time by skilled artisans using professional-grade materials and construction techniques. Full grain harness leather is built to last through seasons of hard use and develops a rich patina over time with proper care.

What sizes are available for this treeless saddle?

Available in multiple sizes. The saddle fits 6 to 8 inch gullet sizes to accommodate various horse shapes. Check product options for available seat sizes. If your horse falls outside this gullet range or has an unusual fit, the treeless design is more adaptable than traditional tree saddles.

What is included with this saddle purchase?

The HILASON treeless western saddle comes complete with a matching hand-tooled bridle, collar, and front cinch strap. This full set provides everything needed to start riding immediately, including all essential tack for trail riding, pleasure riding, or ranch work.

How do I care for the hand-tooled leather on this saddle?

Clean the hand-tooled leather with a soft dry cloth regularly to remove dust and sweat. Use a leather conditioner designed for saddles every few months to maintain suppleness and protect the finish. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or extreme moisture. Store in a cool, dry location. Proper care extends the saddle's lifespan and maintains the beauty of the antique mahogany hand-carved design.
