Frequently Asked Questions
Is this Hilason dog harness made of genuine leather?
Yes. Hilason builds this leather dog harness from heavy duty double layer leather - two layers stitched together with extra strong nylon thread at every stress point. The leather is naturally oiled, so it softens and grows more supple with use while staying strong. The lining is felt and the hardware is nickel coated heavy duty metal, not plastic.
What size dog will this leather dog harness fit?
The neck adjusts from 21 to 27 inches and the girth strap adjusts from 33 to 39 inches, which covers most large breed dogs with a strong, wide chest. Measure snugly around the neck and around the body just behind the front legs, then allow roughly two fingers of room under the straps for comfort.
Does the leash come with the harness?
Yes. This is a leather dog harness and leash set. A matching leather leash is included with the harness, so you can walk, track or train without buying a separate lead. Both pieces are made with the same heavy duty leather and nickel coated hardware.
Is this leather harness good for dogs that pull?
The chest plate design spreads pressure across the chest instead of the throat, which gives handlers steadier control of a dog that pulls. Because the shoulders stay free, the dog keeps relaxed muscle movement rather than fighting the strap. It is not a mechanical no-pull device, so pair it with consistent training.
How should I care for a white leather dog harness?
Wipe the leather with a damp cloth after muddy walks and let it air dry away from direct heat. The leather is naturally oiled, so heavy conditioning is not needed - a light leather conditioner once or twice a season is enough. Check the stitching and nickel hardware regularly, and store the harness hanging rather than folded.
