Frequently Asked Questions

What is a treeless western saddle and how is it different from a traditional saddle?

A treeless western saddle has no rigid wooden or synthetic frame. Instead, it flexes and moves with your horse's back, allowing 4-way movement and reducing pressure points. This design is ideal for trail riding and ranch work because it lets your horse engage its back muscles naturally and move with a better range of motion than traditional saddles.

Can this HILASON treeless saddle be used for trail riding?

Yes, this treeless saddle is specifically designed for trail riding, pleasure riding, ranch work, and endurance riding. The flexible design adapts to your horse's movements during long rides, reducing fatigue and discomfort. The anti-slip stirrups and deep 5-inch cantle provide security and stability on the trail.

What size gullet does this saddle fit?

This HILASON treeless saddle fits horses with a 6 to 8 inch gullet. The treeless design also adapts well to horses with high withers, wide shoulders, or unusual conformation that may struggle with traditional saddles. Available seat sizes are 13", 14", 15", 16", 17", and 18".

Is this saddle handmade and is it a good value?

Yes, each HILASON saddle is handmade one at a time by experienced craftsmen using full grain harness leather and professional-quality materials. At 21 lbs with complete matching tack included (bridle, collar, cinch strap), this represents excellent value - professional quality craftsmanship without premium markup.

What leather is used and how do I care for it?

The saddle is made from top quality full grain harness leather with hand-tooled floral carving. To care for it, wipe with a dry cloth after rides, condition periodically with leather conditioner, and store in a dry place. Avoid prolonged moisture and direct sunlight. The harness leather becomes more supple and attractive with regular use and proper care.

What is included with this saddle?

The complete set includes the treeless saddle, matching bridle with hand-tooled leather, collar, and front cinch strap. Everything you need to begin trail riding or ranch work is included in the package.
