Frequently Asked Questions

What is a treeless western saddle and how is it different from a traditional saddle?

A treeless saddle lacks the rigid wooden or synthetic tree structure of traditional saddles, allowing complete flexibility to adapt to your horse's unique back shape. This design eliminates pressure points, promotes natural shoulder movement, and reduces restricted gait. Treeless saddles are ideal for horses hard to fit or those with high withers, wide shoulders, or unusual conformation.

Is this Hilason saddle handmade?

Yes. Each Hilason saddle is handmade one at a time by skilled craftsmen using top quality full grain harness leather. This ensures consistent quality craftsmanship and durability without premium markup. The hand-tooled floral design and silver hardware are applied individually during production.

What are the available sizes for this treeless saddle?

This treeless western saddle is available in 14", 15", and 16" sizes. The gullet fits horses with 6 to 8 inch measurements. If you are unsure about sizing, consult your saddle fitter or horse's measurements before ordering.

Can this saddle be used for trail riding and long hours in the saddle?

Yes. The treeless western saddle is ideal for trail riding and all-purpose use. At approximately 21 lbs, it is lightweight and reduces rider fatigue on long rides. The flexible construction and turquoise suede seat provide comfort and secure grip throughout extended hours of riding.

How do I care for the hand-tooled leather on this saddle?

Clean the hand-tooled harness leather regularly with a soft cloth and leather conditioner to maintain suppleness and prevent cracking. For carved areas, use a soft brush to remove dirt from grooves. Avoid prolonged water exposure and store in a dry location. The tooled design naturally protects deeper carved areas from wear.

What is included with this saddle purchase?

This treeless western saddle includes a matching bridle, collar, and front cinch strap, providing everything needed to begin trail riding. The complete set represents professional quality at accessible pricing compared to purchasing items separately.
