Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a treeless saddle and a traditional western saddle?

A treeless saddle has no rigid wooden or synthetic tree structure, allowing 4-way movement that flexes with your horse's natural motion. This design distributes weight across a broader surface area, reduces pressure points, and accommodates horses with difficult fits. Traditional saddles have fixed frames that restrict movement and may cause discomfort on horses with high withers or wide shoulders.

Is this treeless saddle good for trail riding?

Yes. The HILASON treeless western saddle is ideal for trail riding and pleasure riding. Its lightweight construction (approximately 26 lbs) reduces fatigue on long rides, while the flexible design promotes natural movement and back engagement. The 4-way movement allows your horse to navigate varied terrain comfortably without rigid tree restrictions.

What horses can this saddle fit?

This saddle fits horses with gullet sizes between 6 to 8 inches. The treeless design excels at accommodating horses that are hard to fit with traditional saddles, including those with high withers, wide shoulders, muscular builds, or unusual back conformation. The flexible structure adapts to individual horse shapes better than fixed-tree saddles.

Is this saddle handmade?

Yes. Each HILASON treeless saddle is handmade one at a time by experienced craftsmen using top-quality full grain harness leather. The hand-tooled design features intricate floral and scroll patterns that are individually crafted, making each saddle unique while ensuring durability that improves with age and use.

What is included with this saddle?

The complete set includes the hand-tooled treeless saddle, matching hand-tooled bridle, front and rear cinch straps, leather collar, and leather-covered stirrups. Everything is ready for immediate use without additional purchases needed.

How much does this saddle weigh?

The HILASON treeless western saddle weighs approximately 26 lbs, making it lighter than most traditional western saddles due to the absence of a heavy wooden or synthetic tree. This lightweight construction is beneficial for trail riding, endurance events, and reducing rider and horse fatigue.
